Jordan, March 2014.

My Facebook timeline reminded me yesterday that it was exactly a year since I co-led the Ornitholidays tour to Jordan.

Admittedly it was mainly a birding tour but I was taken by some of the ruins we visited, particularly these at Jerash and of course Petra (more of that later).

I found Jordan to be a superb birding location, even if I did spend a lot of time looking across the border to Israel with envy.

The Roman ruins of Jerash north of Amman.

Male Blue Rock Thrush Monticola solitarius, Jerash 27/3/14.

Crested Lark Galerida cristata, Jerash 27/3/14.
